“and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:24-25
Grace is a Place!
When driving on Route 3 in South China you will come across a small building with a large deck set back a little off the road with a sign out front that reads Grace Academy Homeschool & Learning Center. You will continue driving and think to yourself, “What is that place?” Well, just think of us as a homeschool community center.
At Grace Academy, you will find programs to meet all your educational needs – a private school, a homeschool cooperative, a resource library, an academic assistance center and so much more. Serving families of homeschoolers means we serve children of all ages and adults too. At Grace Academy, there is something for everyone.
Grace is an Independent Private School
Our private school works with interested families to provide two different options to assist them in meeting the State of Maine requirements to school their children at home – our Home Academy program and our Catholic Cottage School.
Grace is an Academic Assistance Center
Grace offers private and small group tutoring in reading and writing for students of all ages. With all the distractions in today’s technological world, what students need most is face-to-face attention through mentoring and tutoring. We’re here to help!
Our tutors are trained in a variety of phonics-based methods proven to teach struggling students to spell and read with confidence. Our tutors will teach and support students throughout the entire writing process with mastery-based programs chosen specifically to address areas of weakness. Our thoughtful, patient and creative tutors use multi-sensory programs to make difficult concepts more enjoyable and easier to understand.
Grace is an Enrichment Cooperative
Grace’s enrichment classes make it easier for homeschooling parents to conduct experiments and other group-oriented activities that may be harder to do with just a child or two at home. Inspired by the breadth and depth of a Charlotte Mason education, our enrichment programs feed your student’s mind by spreading a feast of ideas in a wide variety of subjects for your children to participate in.
Each session offers different classes. Each parent is assigned a class to teach or assist with that utilizes his or her unique talents and interests. We have had a variety of classes for all ages; ranging from writing to literature, art to music, and American Sign Language to French. More examples include: American and Ancient History and Geography, Latin, American Sign Language, Painting, Sketching, Books Studies, Bible Studies, Guitar Lessons, Piano Lessons and Voice Lessons. The STEM program is a favorite with everyone at Grace. Science classes have included Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Flying Creatures and General Science for Middle Schoolers.
Grace is a Meeting Place
Grace Academy encourages its members to feel at home here in this beautiful space. We encourage our members to think of new and creative ways to use the space we have been given to make a difference in our homeschool community, our church communities and our town communities.
Students have started service clubs, hiking clubs, teen clubs and a yearbook. Parents are planning cooking classes, sewing classes, and community dinners. If you can dream it you can do it at Grace.
Is Grace the Place for You?
Many homeschool parents, especially those new to homeschooling, may not have had previous experience with homeschool co-ops, but here at Grace, many of our families have been involved in cooperative education for over 15 years. Becoming a member of Grace Academy is just one of many ways to enrich your family’s homeschool experience. Join today, there is so much we can learn from one another!
Know. Love. Serve. Learn.
